Medical Services assists hospitals in billing third party claims. We have a department devoted entirely to this process. This includes Motor Vehicle accidents, Slip and Falls, accidents that occur at a residence, Workers Compensation, etc. When an account is determined to be the responsibility of a third party, either by the hospital or our staff, it is sent to our Legal Department to obtain all the information needed to file a Lien, according to applicable State Statues, to insure that the hospital is included in the funds distributed at settlement. These accounts are assigned to a Paralegal for follow up until the account is settled. All paperwork and filing fees are taken care of by Medical Services. Follow up phone calls to insurance companies and attorney offices are made on a regular basis, until a settlement is reached and payment is received. Any unpaid balance is billed to applicable health insurance or to the guarantor, depending on the laws in your state.
